The forum is mainly computer geek and science related, but they start each program with a beer review.<br />

I just wanted to grab some attention with this piece and add a little humor. I've always loved that vintage illustration style from the 40's and 50's.<br />

During the civil war  &quot;Jayhawkers&quot; were abolitionists that fought for Kansas to be a Free State.<br />
<br />
The idea was later adopted by Kansas University as a fierce fighting predator mascot.<br />
<br />
I was given permission from the University to modify the original mascot into this logo for a local taxicab company.]]>

	<title>Goodfellas</title>

He works as  a bartender for The American Legion in Winfield, Kansas. I thought the lighting was great so I snagged a couple photographs of these veterans chatting it up at the bar.<br />
<br />
After my initial drawing of the reference photo I had to start over a couple times. I usually draw from my head so it was difficult to push my limits of realism. In the end I think it was worth the frustration.<br />
<br />
All brush work done with the Artist Oils Brushes in Painter Essentials 3. A bit of Photoshop touch up near the end.]]>
